I’m guessing most men would prefer a big fat meaty burger over a vegie burger any day. Nevertheless I’m dedicating this black bean burger to MOVEMBER. A big hooray for all the guys that have grown a stache this month and an even bigger applause for all their loved ones who had to deal with that itchy face they were rocking!
This burger is delicious with some french fries and a fresh salad. And if you’re not a big fan of chili sauce, not to worry it’s also very yum with some sweet hoisin sauce.
450 g black beans, drained (1 can)
2 cm piece of ginger, grated
3 stalks of spring onions, chopped finely (white parts only)
2 tbsp bread crums
1 tsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp 5 spice powder
1 tsp sunflower oil
mayo (yogurt is a tasty healthy alternative)
Whizz black beans in foodprocessor so they’re chopped but not completely mashed to death.
Place all ingredients, except oil, in a bowl and mix together.
Form burger patties with your hands by gently pressing and molding.
Personally I prefer making my patties a bit flatter so they get nice and crispy on the outside and properly cooked on the inside.
Heat up oil in a frying pan an fry patties on both sides over medium-low heat.
In the mean time grill your burger buns to get that nice smokey flavor.
Stack up your burger and dig in!
