5. SPOIL YOUR S-E-L-F!

23 September 2015

Spoil yourselfI’ll admit it I’m an emotional eater. I like to say “Everything is better with chocolate.” So I know I have a tendency to eat my frustrations away. It’s when my personal stash of kinder buenos was disappearing at top speed I knew things where starting to get out of hand… I switched to healthy snacks at work, instead of rice crispy treats and kinder I now grab a juicy plum or crisp apple. It fills the tummy and provides a sugar injection minus the guilt trip after.

Food is big for me. So a lot of my indulgences focus on chocolate souffles and other dreamy dishes.
The other day I was feeling utterly frustrated and Mr. Starbucks made my day with a delicious chai latte. It was so blissful, I didn’t even bat an eye at the ridiculous price they charge for it. Then I walked over to Leonida’s and got me some rich dark chocolate bonbons (insert dreamy eyes here). Needless to say I was feeling on top of the world after!

The point is every now and then, you need to spoil your S-E-L-F a little. Invest in making you feel happy. Or at the very least a tiny bit happier. And it doesn’t have to be food related or cost a penny. Draw yourself a hot bath and soak in it all night. Dress up and make yourself feel pretty again. Crawl up on the couch with a good book and relax (remember how to do that?). Turn your phone off for a day and just have some ME-time. But whatever you do, you need to understand you deserve it!

This is not a pity party. This is an indulgence you’ve deserved. It’s a reward for pushing through the bull. It’s the fuel to power up and keep on strutting. So stop putting yourself down and start pulling yourself up and spoil your S-E-L-F rotten.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
